Oriental village! I would definitely recommend you to save a day in your Langkawi trip to this place. Yes, the Oriental village is wowing users with its amazing skycab, sky bridge, 3D art museum and much more attractions. Sky cab and sky bridge are way too good I would say.
The oriental village is located on the northwest coast of Langkawi at Teluk Burau. The entry to the cable car starts from Oriental village itself and takes as to the peak of Gunung Machinchang with a stop in between, the middle station. The cable car covers 2.2 km in total, and is the steepest cable car ride in the world(about 42 degrees) Sounds scary? Think of it in a windy day. It will get even more amazing.
Since the sky bridge is one of the main attractions in Langkawi and the gondolas can only accommodate limited no of people, the crowd is also little more compared to other places in Langkawi. This was the only crowded place in Langkawi I would say. But it is worth to visit.
To board in the ride, we waited for around 1.5 hours. If you don’t want to wait that much, you can take express pass.
This cable car ride starts from the base station and takes you to the middle station where you can get down and enjoy the view at 650m above the sea level. Of course the views are breathtaking and majestic. We are not afraid of heights, but it was little scary on finishing the first 15 minutes ride to the middle station. From the base station, you have to hop in the gondola which will be moving around from middle to base stations. There are glass bottom gondolas as well, but you have to pay extra bucks for it. But it will be worth the money.
As I already said the ride from base station to middle station is around 15 minutes, and you will get to have the view of the forest beneath and a beautiful waterfalls and the andaman sea. This 15 minutes ride from base station to the middle station is one of the thrillist rides I have ever taken. My husband, such a poor fellow, He was scared like anything. 🙂 On reaching the middle station, he went into the restroom right away to ease out the fear 🙂 Hope you know what I mean 🙂 After having enough of photo sessions, we boarded the gondola to the top station where the sky bridge is located.
The ride from the middle station to the top won’t be as scary as the previous one. The top station is the peak of Machinchang mountain about 700m+ above sea level. As langkawi is enriched with so much of nature beauties, the view has to be mind blowing apparently. Indeed it was. The top stations had viewpoints at both the corners, people split into groups and visited each of the view points. We found a place where the love birds hanged locks as their symbol of love.
So here comes the Sky bridge, the longest free span and curved bridge in the world. The sky bridge is 125 m long suspended bridge. Reaching the skybridge from top station will take 15m -20m walk downside in the jungle. Proper steps will be there , but its very steep though. If you feel exhausted while going down think of coming back on the same way after finishing the sky bridge visit 🙂 cool cool, if you don’t want to spend all your energy here, you can take up the sky
